This slideshow is about the ideas for our magazine advert that we did individually in our group. We then shared our both of it to the whole class so we get some feedback from them.

Feedback
After we have showed and explained the ideas we have got for on each of the digipak, we have received different comments from different people. These are the feedback we have got:

Positive:

• They like my idea of using close up shots on the front cover as they would see her expression more and it is also one of the generic conventions of pop digipaks. 
• All the images links back to the music video which makes them think about it.
• They all like the idea of having footprints on the sand for the inside panel because it reminds them on our music video.
• The fonts that I have thought of for the front cover was effective because the audience thinks it fits in with our genre 
• They like my idea of having the female walking down the path because this is what they see at the start of our music video and they also see it right at the end. 
• One of the students liked my idea of showing half of the female artist's face on the front cover because it gives a mysterious kind of effect to the audience and it also gives an enigma on why just showing half of her face. 

Negative:

• They think the mid shot of the female looking on the right doesn't work. 
• The egg timer and orchids aren't effective compared to the footprints on the sand.

Final decision:

After the feedback they have made on the ideas for our digipaks, the whole class has to make some votes on which ones we could use for the front cover, inside panel and back cover. These are the decisions they have made:

 

Front Cover

The close up shot and the angle of her face shows her melancholic expressions which would remind the audience into our music video as this is the type of character we have portrayed her as in our music video. It would also be clear to them who the music video is about and authorize them to feel closer to her. The fancy font style for the title would attract the female audience's eyes because it looks girly. The signature type of font for the artist's name makes it look professional and more personal. 

Back Cover

 

They think that this idea for the back cover works very effective as it would remind the audience into our music video as this is what they would see at the start and end of it. The placement of the bar code, company logo and copyright information at the bottom of the page is what we would normally expect to see in a music video and it looks professionally done.

Inside Cover

 

They thing that the footprints of the sand works well for the inside cover as it links back to the music video and it also reflects on theme of the whole song, as the female used to have something but doesn't have it anymore whereas the footprints means something that used to be there but isn't anymore. The lyrics on the left hand side is effective because it would be easier for the audience to read the words. 

 

Conclusion:

Overall, I think we have used the generic conventions of pop digipak which would be easier for the audience to identify the theme and genre. The whole composition of the digipak has some meaning that associates with our music video which would remind the audience about what it was about. 

Another feedback from our current Music Video

We have showed our current music video from our class before we start the ancillary task. These are the feedback's that we have got:

Advantages:

• Mise-en-scene was appropriate
• Actor portrayed the role well
• Sound at the end 

Improvements to do:

• Needs to soften the sound at the end
• Change the tilt shot on the stairs
• Add a little bit more narrative

Conclusion:

After the feedback that we have got from the whole class, we are going to do the things that needs to have some improvements on. We have got a short clip of the female artist and her ex running around the park and we decided to place it right at the start of our music video. Also we need to do a  few seconds of filming where the female is flicking through the photos on the photo album and it is going to be placed after the egg timer.

Feedback from our current music video

Advantages:

• They said that we have picked the right actor for the female character as she was good at portraying her role. For example, the female was good at portraying melancholic and lonely throughout the music video and it made our audience to sympathies at her and identify themselves in the situation she is in.
• One of the audience said that we have picked the beach as the right location for isolating the female character.
• The narrative and performance based was clear.
• Good at picking different locations which matches to romance/ love theme of our music video and keeps it interesting. For example, the living room with red curtains and sofa connotes as love which matches the theme of our music video.
• Excellent use of mise-en-scene  and connotations such as the female character's clothing throughout the music video. We have used white top and gown because we wanted to portray her innocence and purity.  Also the black jacket implies that every one have two different sides. She is also wearing the latest fashion trends which makes the audience feel that they are the same.
• A wide range of different camera shots and techniques to keep the music video interesting. Also they are suitable for each scenes such as close up shots to focus on her melancholic expressions so the audience focuses on her more.
• Good use of editing and effects such as dissolves which matches the slow paced of the song. And also it implies that as time goes by the bad memories will fade away.

Disadvantages:

• One of the student said that we need to split one of the clips because it's long and it doesn't make it look boring to watch.
• We need to use fast cuts as well because the song has up beat tempo.
• There is a scene where we cut to early and we need to stretch it a little bit more.
• There was too much of showing the female character which would it look boring for the audience to watch. Therefore, we need to introduce the male character as well.

Conclusion:

Overall, I think that we had a good feedback from everyone in our class and we have decided as a group to do some changes in our current music video so it looks even better. My group and I needs to do more filming this weekend to fill in the gaps. We need to film the female getting ready and the beach scene were she is sat next to her ex jacket which is part of the narrative in our music video.

The Pitch & Feedback

This video is when Rachael and I pitched our concept and ideas in front of the whole. This will help us on how we could improve or change the ideas we have got. 



After the pitch, we received different feedback from different students and also the teacher. The feedback that we got were:

• What editing should we us

For editing, we're thinking to have slow fades when its slow tempo and fast fades when it is fast tempo so it matches to the song. And it will also make the audience feel sympathy for her. When the female artist is going through all her old memories in the photo album, we will use dissolves to signify as all of her memories are fading away. 

• Do we have a female lead

We haven't chosen a female lead yet but we have some people that we could use as the female lead. They are good at acting and have done GCSE Drama so we can rely on them. We can't think of the final narrative just yet but we some ideas in mind. This people also easy to get in contact with as they go to the same school as us and doesn't live far. 

• What is the narrative of our music video

Our idea is about how the female is leaving the past behind her and moving on after the break up with her ex-boyfriend. She then realise how stupid she was to love him and move on about it all by herself. Our idea is about how the female is leaving the past behind her and moving on after the break up with her ex-boyfriend. • What camera shots and techniques do we use

We make sure that the audience will focus more on the female singer by using close up shots to show her emotions and nothing is in the way that distracts the audience eyes. We might use tracking shots when she is walking in a street or path to make the audience follow at her movements throughout the video. And use long shots to show her body gestures to show to the audience how she is acting with the situation she is in. We might use an establishing shot of the location so  the audience know where it is set in. 

• Do we have some ideas on where to shoot our music video

We are planning to shoot in an abandoned streets or parks or somewhere that it is isolated as it matches the concept of the story.
